At the end of last week, two representatives from the Japanese company EIKEN CHEMICAL - Yasuyoshi Mori, executive officer and Junji Arita, head of global business department of Europe office - visited the Institute of Clinical and Preventive Medicine of the University of Latvia (LU KPMI).

This company's cooperation with the LU KPMI has been going on for several years, and it has been particularly important in the implementation of gastric cancer prevention research.
During the meeting, the Japanese colleagues consulted with Prof. Mārcis Lej on issues related to improving screening approaches for gastric and other types of cancer. This cooperation demonstrates an active scientific dialogue and international exchange of experience, which is essential for the development of modern medicine.
EIKEN CHEMICAL representatives also visited the LU KPMI Institute's biobank and laboratories, located at the LU Academic Center in Torņakalns. The visit provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the institute's research infrastructure and share ideas for future research initiatives.
