The Scientific Council of the Institute was elected at the first scientific meeting of the KPMI, and Viesturs Boka, a member of the board of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Latvia, was nominated and elected Chairperson of the Scientific Council.
Six scientists from the Institute were elected tot the Scientific Council, and four of the Institute's research field experts were delegated by the Board of Directors of the Riga East University Hospital (RAKUS) to the Scientific Council.

The University of Latvia, in cooperation with the Riga East University Hospital (RAKUS), establishes the Institute of Clinical and Preventive Medicine of the University of Latvia (KPMI).

With the support of the Riga East University Hospital (RAKUS), the Senate of the University of Latvia made a decision on the establishment of the Institute of Clinical and Preventive Medicine of the University of Latvia (KPMI). The institute is based on several years of successful research work, with the aim of better combining and using resources, becoming an important partner for both Latvian and international leading research organizations.
